Let football settle national conflicts. And by football, I mean soccer. Sorry, I grew up in Sweden where it was called by its real name. But football, soccer, whatever, you know what I mean.
Here’s a thought: Why doesn’t the UN mandate that going forward, without exception, all nation vs. nation political or other conflicts are to be settled by football. Not with guns, not by wars, no by violence, just football.
National teams: Best three out of five. Neutral ground. Unbiased and un-bribable referees. Results are binding. No draws—a tied score at the end of the game is settled not by penalties, but by alternating corners (first to three goals scored on these tie-breaker corners).
Not only will this do away with war, it will make for healthier populations since governments now need top-notch football teams. No?
